The Essentials you should know
Hi we would like to discuss about owning a beautiful bulldog, as it is not as simple as it may seem but is still hugely rewarding.
Barbara is cute and certainly robust but she has a few things she needs help with. First of all her folds on her face need to be cleaned and dried everyday especially the the main fold above her nose due to build up, with fragrance free gentle wipes due to a bulldogs sensitive skin she will thank you for this and also her ears need to be kept clean as the passageways are narrow, but a good hard rub behind the ears helps with this and she loves it being done also.
Bulldogs are obviously known for that cute face but because of the flatness of the nose and internal make up, there breathing is not the best and can be difficult for them. Often experiencing problems later in life.
Did you also know that Bulldogs find it difficult to regulate there temperature which can cause sometimes severe issues. being in the car for long periods they will need to stop for water often and need the temperature regulated, my advice buy a jacket.
As I briefly stated above Skin issues and infections. This can be from many things but as long as you keep a routine for there skinfolds and ears and keep an eye on there skin. I’ve known other owners whose dogs have had skin problems and they changed the food they gave the dog and it cleared up.
Another thing I’ve noticed is even though they are a short haired breed they do malt quite a bit and as it short course hare it get everywhere so a grooming routine is a good bet too. the great thing is most bull dogs love attention and grooming as long as it is kept up will be there favourite time of the day. Some you time you can both share.
A bulldog doesn’t need a huge amount of exercise but exercise is still crucial for them to stay fit and healthy because like me they have no off switch when it comes to food and they will drink a whole bowl of water in one sitting to so don’t forget hydration.
Also because of the muscle content they have a high protein food is a must to maintain and stay healthy, If I hade muscles like her id never have my shirt on.
Something I was unaware of before I met Barbara was that bulldogs give birth through C-section as the the puppies heads are too big to pass through the birthing canal, this is something you may want to consider if you are thinking of breeding your Best friend.
Now I know I have made it look difficult and hard work to own this little ball off muscle but it isn’t, she is fantastic and my best friend. Bulldogs are caring, loyal, kind and loving little hug Bugs, not to mention the burping and farting is hilarious especially in front of company. Ive never met anyone who her look hasn’t melted there heart or found her cute and lovable. She is great with people and other animals. She is my shadow and I know she is always next to me.
